Note 1 - " i have tried to overclock on the 83Mhz bus but it fails to boot. The system is fairly stable with just some folders not appearring until you click on them"
Note 2 - " Stable only, when AT- case cover removed. Sisoft - sandra 99 1176MIPS, 605MFLOPS"
Note 3 - " black screen ,no screen the display not run I have a Amd K6-2 400 AHX with core 2.4 with sdram 66 mhz 64 mo"
Note 4 - " My system is completely stable after the soldering i did as shown in this site. Is really amazing how far this chipset can go. However i did not manage to get higher speed."
Note 5 -" It was unstable at 75*6= 450Mhz due to my slow RAM simms. on 66*6=400 its stable but needs to "warm up" when I power the computer on. I'm looking for some PC-100 ram to go back to 75*6 and get rid of the "warm up" problem."
Note 6 - " Using a whopper heatsink - around the 40c mark! 83 FSB unstable with 60ns IBM Ram - Need Some SDRAM, won't buy unless sure it works!"
Note 7 - " System is stable. External heatsink for SIP-Mos BUZ 100 Power Transistor with PWM TL 494"
Note 8 - "I actually had the K6-2/550 running at 500 (83*6), but my EDO wasn't stable at that speed.
Note 9 - "It was necessary to upgrade the BIOS to the 04/30/98 version to boot up correctly. Also I installed the patch AMDK6UPD.EXE from AMD site to resolve a protection error during IOS: initialization under WIN95 OSR2 (WIN98 is not affected). The BIOS detects the CPU as "AMD-K6/400 CPU".The Sisoft Sandra 2000 reports it as "K6-III 3D+ (SHARPTOOTH)400-500 2,4V".Again ,with Sandra 2000, the CPU benchmark is 950 MIPS(CPU Dhrystone) and 497 MFLOPS(FPU Whetstone).I thought to get better results using SETK6 but at the moment I didn't succeed"
Note 10 The 2x did not remap to 6x as hoped, probally because my K6-2 is an engineering sample. The k6-2 chip can run stable at 2.5 Volts and 400Mhz. I have not soldered the extra pins for the extra multipiers yet, and that will be my next step to get higher speeds.
Note 11 System runs fine. It wouldn't work when jumpered to 83mhz ( gave me some registry errors i suspect it's memory problem. My SDRAM is PC100 though... oh well. The great thing about the K6-2 475mhz is that it uses core volatge of 2.4 so without any soldering or desoldering of mothermoard resistors the 2.5V from the motherboard does just fine except the excessive heat. Disappointing that it's a 475mhz and running at 450mhz but way better than the old P100. By the way can anyone give me some info how to use the setk6 and also let me know if it's any good ???
Note 12 Completely stable for 4 months now, I'm extremly happy with it. Sandra 2000 Pro score (after SETK6): 1016/496. Note that Sandra2000Pro's score is a little slower than Sandra2000Std's (1024/496). Don't know why.
Note 13 - " My motherboard doesn't work well, only to 233 MHZ. Volition I would use high speed processor, clocking, maybe too AMD K6 II. Be possible upgrade? What is advance? Thank Vlado Kozacik p.s.: Program: Unicore Chip Detect v0.66 2000.02.02 BIOS Date: 08/14/97 BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG BIOS ID: 08/14/97-VXPro+-USB-Ultr-2A5LDH09C-00 BIOS Eval: Release 08/14/1997 S Chipset: VIA 82C585 rev 35 Superio: UMC/ITE 8663, 8669, or 8670 rev 0 found at port 108h"
Note 14 - " Running chip in (2) mode would boot to W95, but IE5 would not run correctly. Using (2) 32MB 66MHz SDRAM DIMMS, heat sink and fan. Appears to be 100% stable using 75MHz bus @ 400MHz."
Note 15 - " System is stable,but the Bios (i have updated) means the Prozessor is a AMD K6 400. SisoftSandra write the correct CPU-name:AMD K6-2 450 3D NOW. The Benchmarks are: 931 MIPs / 559 MFLOPs 1096 it/s Integer MMX 1611 it/s FPU K6-2 3D NOW 3D-Mark 99-Max Benchmarks are:1099-3D-Marks ,with a Elsa Victory Erazor/Open-GL PCI , 4MB Videomemory"
Note 16 - " Had to 1) upgrade bios 2) run amdk6upd.exe. Processor cool, memory (128MB in 4 SIMMs) stable. I can't thank you enough for this, I was about to buy a new mainboard!"
