CDR-582 CD-ROM README FILE (Release 1.1)
========================================

This file contains important information not available at the time
the manual was printed. Please take time to read through it for
the latest updates.

About SETUP Disk
================

There are four files in the SETUP disk. They are:

        SETUP.EXE         Software install program
        CDR58201.SYS      CD-ROM device driver
        MSCDEX5.EXE Microsoft CD Extension for DOS 5.x
        MSCDEX6.EXE Microsoft CD Extension for DOS 6.x
        README.TXT        Detail information document

The software installation for the CDR-582 is extremely easy and
fully automatic.

Running "SETUP.EXE"; the software installation program; will first
rename the existing Autoexec.bat and Config.sys in the root directory
to Autoexec.cdr and Config.cdr respectively.

A directory of "CDR582" will then be created from the root directory.
In the meantime, the SETUP program copy the necessary files of
"CDR58201.SYS" and "MSCDEX5.EXE" or "MSCDEX6.EXE", etc. to the newly
created subdirectory. The "AUTOEXEC.BAT" and "CONFIG.SYS" will be
updated accordingly so that the option for CDR-582 CD-ROM device driver
will be automatically set and configured.

Because the Autoexec.bat and Config.sys are updated, a message of
requesting Reboot will be appeared in the screen.

Setting of AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS
======================================

Disregarding to what kind of sound card your computer is attaching,
the setting of AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS are identical for the CD-ROM.

The setting in AUTOEXEC.BAT is:
        C:\CDR582\MSCDEX5.EXE /D:MSCDROM /V
                or
        C:\CDR582\MSCDEX6.EXE /D:MSCDROM /V
                or
        C:\[dos directory]\MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCDROM /V

The setting in CONFIG.SYS is:
        DEVICE=C:\CDR582\CDR58201.SYS /D:MSCDROM /V

Modification of the Sound Card's Setting
========================================

Depends on what kind of sound card you are using, the setting for
the device driver of your sound card may need to be modified so that
you can attain prefect operation for your CDR-582 CD-ROM drive.

Mozart sound card with IDE connector:
- When the CDR-582 CD-ROM drive is attaching to the IDE connector of
  the Mozart Sound Card:
  the device setting for your sound card should be modified as:
        DEVICE=C:\MOZART\MZTINIT.SYS /A220 /I5 /D1 /E2 /CA170 /CI15
- When the CDR-582 CD-ROM drive is not attaching to the IDE connector
  of the Mozard Sound Card, you can keep your original setting for the
  sound card and need not be changed.

Other sound cards without IDE connector:
- When the CDR-582 CD-ROM drive is attaching to either one of the
  sound card with no IDE connector prepared in your sound card,
  the device setting for your sound card need not to be modified.
  Just keep the original setting for your sound card.

Play AUDIO Disc directly through the buttons in the Front Panel
===============================================================

As you can see in the manual, there are two buttons on the right side
of the front panel. The right button is named 'PAUSE/EJECT' button
while the left button is named 'PLAY/SKIP' button.

The function for each button is listed as follow:
'PAUSE/EJECT' - When no audio disc is using, pressing once will eject
                the disc.
              - When audio stops playing, pressing once will also eject
                the disc.
              - When audio disc is playing, pressing once will pause
                the audio disc from playing. The disc head will stay
                where it is playing and the drive will enter PAUSE
                condition.

'PLAY/SKIP' - When no audio disc is using, it is recommended not to
                use this button. Otherwise, pressing this button may
                cause unexpected action of the drive.
              - When audio disc stops playing, pressing once will make
                the music starts playing from the first song.
              - When audio disc is playing, pressing once will skip to
                next song for playing.
              - When the disc is under PAUSE condition (by pressing the
                'PAUSE/EJECT' button while the music is playing),
                pressing this button once will resume the music playing.

If you are using the software application to activate the AUDIO PLAY
features, please do not use the 'PAUSE/EJECT' and 'PLAY/SKIP' buttons
for any kind of audio operation. Otherwise, unexpected operation may be
induced or audio display (e.g. counter display) in your application
may not be appeared according to the actual operation.
