Data Lifeguard Tools v2.51
(November 2000)
This is an interim release of the Data Lifeguard Tools with added support for Windows ME
and is currently only available as individual utilities. This interim version requires a bootable
floppy diskette. Please download and extract each utility you wish to use to your bootable
floppy diskette. To run each utility, please execute the utility directly from the floppy.
Data Lifeguard Tools contains the following:

EZ-Install
(EZmaker.exe - 929KB exe file)
EZMaker.exe is a self-extracting file that creates a bootable diskette that runs only the
EZ-Install portion of the DLG Tools. This version of EZ-Install is part of DLG Tools 2.6.
Version 2.6 adds support for Windows ME and is currently only available as an individual
utility. This new version does not require a bootable floppy diskette. Please download the
file to a Windows directory and execute EZMAKER.exe. You will be prompted to insert a
blank floppy diskette, and the file will create a bootable EZ-Install diskette.

Diagnostics
(dlgdiag.zip - 183KB zip file)
The Diagnostics option allows you to test the drive, print results for last drive tested, repair
errors found during the Test Drive option and write zeros to the drive (low-level format).
This option replaces Wd_diag and Wd_clear (which was used for scanning errors
"Read Verify" and low-level formatting capabilities). The Diagnostics also replaces
Wdat_ide.exe for scanning and defect management. Note: You should continue to use
Wdat_ide.exe if you own one of the following older model WD Caviar hard drives:
AC140, AC160, AC280, AC2120, AC2170, AC2200.

BIOS Check
(dlgchk.zip - 102KB zip file)
BIOS Check reports number of drives physically detected, number of drives accessed by
the BIOS and additional drive table information. This utility was written so end users can
report their system configuration to Western Digital technical support personnel when
discussing disk drive issues.

Ultra ATA Manager
(dlgudma.zip - 160KB zip file)
This utility is used to enable or disable the Ultra ATA 33/66/100 capability on Western Digital
EIDE drives that support this feature
