Sonic Impact S100 Uninstall Procedure ===================================== 1) Go to the Device Manager and remove the "Diamond Sonic Impact S100 Device Manager" entry (this will automatically remove all other child devices). To get to your device manager, right click on My Computer, select properties, then Device Manager. 2) Run the file, "remove s100.bat" that you have downloaded from our webpage. This will be found by default in your C:\Windows\Desktop folder. Steps 3-5 are optional, but it will prevent duplicate entries if you choose to reinstall as well as possible error messages if you do not choose to remove them. The error message(s) that you will see do not impair your system performance or require user interaction. To perform these steps, you will be required to edit some start up files. See the next section for tips on how to edit these files. 3) Edit the c:\windows\dosstart.bat file and remove the "C:\S100.COM" entries. 4) Edit the config.sys file and remove the "DEVICE=C:\S100.SYS " entries. 5) Edit the autoexec.bat file and remove the "C:\S100.COM" entries. You have now uninstalled the Sonic Impact S100 from your system. ================================================= HOW TO PERFORM STEPS 3-5 ================================================= To perform steps 3-5, you will need to edit three files. Your dosstart file, your autoexec.bat file, and your config.sys file. This is actually quite easy, however, you may want to get some assistance if you are unsure of these steps, as you could accidentally prevent your system from working properly if you remove the wrong statements. If you do not choose to remove these files, your system will still function normally, you just may see an error message flash on your screen during boot up because Windows is looking for a file referenced. This error does not affect your system at all, but is nice to have remove for aesthetic reasons. ====== STEP 3 ====== From your Windows desktop, click on START. Then click on FIND FILES OR FOLDERS. When the search screen pops up, type exactly the following line in the "Named" field. dosstart Before you hit ok or enter, make sure that the "Look in" field says (C:\) Click on "Find Now." You should see at least one file pop up. RIGHT Click on the one that is labeled as an MS-DOS BATCH file. You should see an EDIT option on the menu. Click it. Continue with step 3 by removing all lines referring to the S100. When done, go to File, then SAVE then exit. ========== STEP 4 & 5 ========== From your Windows desktop, click on START. Then click on RUN. Type the following in the OPEN field. sysedit A window should open up with several smaller windows in it. Find the one labeled Config.sys and proceed as above. Now find the window labeled Autoexec.bat. Again, proceed as above, remembering to save before you exit. ======
